Hotel Overview

Sense of place

Green Camp settles in the hills just outside of Ubud, surrounded by nothing but virgin wilderness and the sounds of the rainforest.

Rooms at Green Camp

Families will stay in Yurt Village: a collection of 12 eco-rustic thatched yurts accommodating up to 48 people. Emphasis is placed on getting back to basics, so don’t expect to find the latest gadgets or a working WiFi connection inside. Instead, you and the children will sleep on bunk beds made from bamboo, each with mosquito nets and ceiling fans. The bathrooms are open-air, with composting toilets and private showers beneath the forest canopy.

Food & drink

All meals are provided at the camp, and many of the products are sourced from their own garden – 30% of the ingredients in fact. Emphasis is placed on educating about the food cycle, so children will learn the beginning to end preparation process of all food they enjoy, and will also get the chance to source the ingredients themselves. Gorgeous Indonesian dishes such as spiced chicken are on the menu, along with some Western favourites including organic homemade pizzas from the brick oven.

Facilities

When you’re not out and about in the wilderness, camp activities and dining takes place at the Wantilan - a Balinese word meaning communal space. Made from bamboo and thatch, this peaceful spot is where you’ll bond with other families in the camp and reflect on the day’s activities. Also on-site is the organic garden, growing all sorts of fruits, vegetables and colourful plant-life, and playing habitat to resident rabbits, chickens, cows, buffaloes and pigs.

Activities at Green Camp

All of the activities at Green Camp are designed to be fun for all the family and fully hands-on. You’ll learn skills in leadership and survival and gain an understanding of how to live sustainably. You might be learning the art of local crafts, discovering the nocturnal life of the forest on a night walk, having a giggle at laughing yoga sessions, or competing to make the best bamboo egg slide. Other trips might include a visit to the surrounding rice paddies, tubing in the Ayung River, or collecting cacao beans for chocolate making. In the evenings, gather around the campfire to enjoy of programme of entertainment that might include martial arts lessons, puppet shows and a sumptuous traditional banquet on the last night.
