Browse nearby boutiques for unique souvenirs such as silk scrolls, crystals and jade and take a leisurely cruise on the river and visit the Diecai Mountain, which has inspired artists for centuries. If a high-octane adventure is what you’re after, you can go river-rafting on the Li River and see its majestic waterfalls or if you want a dose of history and culture, head to the 14th-century Jingjiang Prince’s City.

The region is also home to some fascinating peaks, from its amazing rock formations to the Elephant Trunk Hill resembles an elephant drinking water from the river. Underneath the elephant’s trunk lies the Water Moon cave as the reflection of the moon makes it appear to float on the water there at night. The Reed Flute Cave, also known as the ‘Palace of Natural Arts’ which is ablaze with a multi-coloured light installation, is another one of Guilin’s major attractions.
