The Middle House

The Middle House sits right in the heart of things on Nanjing Road, Shanghai’s main shopping street, which is lined with designer boutiques, restaurants and bars – the perfect jumping-off point for exploring the city centre.

Accommodation at The Middle House is split into Studios – spacious rooms with seating areas made up of large, comfy sofas and armchairs – and the larger Residences, which feature separate kitchens and dining areas for a real home away from home. Whichever you choose, you’ll find the same impeccable sense of style, with a contemporary décor and an urban colour scheme of white, black and grey, with pops of colour. The beautiful bathrooms feature square sinks, black marble and freestanding egg-shaped bathtubs.

The look and facilities are sleek and modern, with home theatre systems, fast Wi-Fi and espresso machines, but nods to Chinese cultural tradition can be found in the wall art and the beautifully-carved wooden screens. Views over the Shanghai skyline can be enjoyed through large floor-to-ceiling windows.

The Middle House is home to three fantastic restaurants, all designed in a beautiful contemporary style but each offering a distinct menu of food and drink. Sui Tang Li is the hotel’s flagship Chinese restaurant, with a wide variety of Cantonese, Sichuan and Shanghainese dishes served up with a modern twist. At Frasca, superb Italian favourites are on the menu, alongside a wide variety of vintage Italian wines, while Café Gray Deluxe offers a delicious international menu that touches on Asian, European and American traditions.

At the atmospheric Mi Xun Spa, a range of wellness treatments are on offer which combine traditional Chinese therapies with modern products and technology. Facilities include a sauna, a steam room and an indoor heated pool. There's also a 24-hour gym, a nail salon and a juice bar.
