Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Phum Baitang is sequestered by the surrounding vegetation and located down an unpaved track just outside of the hustle and bustle of Siem Reap.

Rooms at Phum Baitang

The hotel has 45 private villas, half of which are 80m2 terraced villas while the others are 130m2 with a private plunge pool. All of the spacious wood-and-stilt villas have separate bathrooms and toilets, are fully furnished with traditional Cambodian décor and lead into garden spaces for guests to completely relax in - imagine floorboards with simple woven mats, vases of lotus flowers dotted around the bedroom and shutters made from bamboo leaves.

Food & Drink

The cuisine at Phum Baitang is outstanding with strong local flavours and smells seeping out of the two restaurants. The dishes at Bay Phsar are authentic and often remind guests of local street markets - with the help of the chef, you can even pick your own ingredients and spices - and cooking classes are on offer if you want to find out more. If you are craving some fresh seafood and fine steaks, Hang Bay offers delicious plates of both regional and international fare.

Whether you are in the mood for hearty coconut curries or paper-thin pizza, we'd recommend retiring to the Cigar & Cocktail Lounge, enclosed within a 100-year-old Cambodian farmhouse, after your meal. With an impressive drinks menu of cocktails, fine wines, vintage liquors and premium cigars, you can while away the evening overlooking the emerald green paddies on one of the colonial-style rattan couches.

Facilities

Sink into the outdoor infinity pool, and if you don’t want to move more than a couple of inches during the day, that’s fine as the pool bar is adjacent, and for further relaxation, the rejuvenating spa will cleanse your body and mind. There is a kids club if you have the family in tow.

Activities at Phum Baitang

With its Old Market and colonial French Quarter, Siem Reap provides a great day out, where you can buy souvenirs for the family and friends back home. The city, only 20 minutes' drive away, is also the gateway to Angkor Wat and is definitely a must! Take a tour from the hotel to the 12th century temple complex to catch it either at sunrise or sunset, when it is at its most spectacular.

Back at the hotel, sink into the outdoor infinity pool, and if you don’t want to move more than a couple of inches during the day, that’s fine as the pool bar is adjacent. If you start to get restless, then you can visit the impressive 18-hole golf course, designed by Nick Faldo, or Tonle Sap Lake, the largest fresh water lake in South East Asia.
