2 nightsBANGKOK

Bangkok offers a whirlwind of everything, from fine dining to tasty street food, and from designer boutiques to floating markets that are a perfect photo opportunity. After exploring the bustling, characterful streets, take refuge over cocktails in a rooftop bar, overlooking the city. The luxurious Siam is one of our favourite hotels in Bangkok, a beautiful oasis of calm on the Chao Phraya River, which is very hard to drag yourself away from.

It’s on to Laos and the historic and beautiful Luang Prabang, the country’s former royal capital and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore the opulent Royal Palace, the colonial architecture and the glittering Buddhist temples, and climb up Mount Phousi to be rewarded with panoramic views over Luang Prabang and its mountain backdrop. Visit the pretty Kuang Si waterfalls, where you can enjoy a refreshing swim, followed by a picnic. You may also like to take part in a baci ceremony, where a village elder will wrap a white cotton thread around your wrist and chant an invocation (in Laos, white is traditionally the colour of peace, good fortune and warmth). Your home for four days, Satri House, is an elegant colonial-style hotel right in the heart of Luang Prabang.

3 nightsSIEM REAP

Your next country is Cambodia, where Siem Reap is unmissable – this enchanting spot is home to approximately 500 temples, the most famous of which is, of course, Angkor Wat. As well as taking in the views of this incredible landmark at sunrise and sunset, explore around the Angkor Archaeological Park, which has numerous hidden temples and historic ruins covered in trees and jungle, where you can get lost in the sprawling maze.   There’s more to Siem Reap than Angkor Wat, such as an attractive French Quarter and a thriving food and culture scene. Further afield, enjoy a boat trip on Tonle Sap Lake and visit the floating and stilted lakeside villages. Your hotel, Phum Baitang, offers the best of both worlds – despite being just a 20-minute drive from Angkor Wat, it is a peaceful, relaxing retreat, surrounded by lemongrass fields and lush green rice paddies.

4 nightsKHAO LAK

Back in Thailand, head to Khao Lak, which is home to endless white sand beaches perfect for doing nothing on, except gazing out over the aquamarine waters of the Andaman Sea. There is plenty to do and see if you want to be more active though - head inland to trek to hidden waterfalls and meet elephants, and for some fantastic snorkelling and diving, hop in a speedboat to the Similan Islands. The Sarojin is a luxurious beachfront retreat, where you can relax on a secluded beach, board the hotel’s yacht for a sunset cruise for two around the bay, accompanied by cocktails and canapés, and have a candlelit dinner and champagne under the stars, before enjoying a private screening of your favourite film – simply heaven.
