Sense of place

Located in the classy Embassy Quarter in the Dagon Township, near the Shwedagon pagoda and the Indian House (the official residence of the ambassador of India).

Rooms at Belmond Governor’s Residence

The rooms and suites are luxurious in a low-tech way, all teakwood furniture, hardwood floors and classic colonial elegance.  With 45 rooms and four suites, the Deluxe Garden rooms face the beautiful lotus garden and pool, whilst the recently refurbished Governor’s room is very large with colonial and antique furnishings, both of which are good bets.

Food & drink

Mandalay restaurant serves exotic, local cuisine with blended spices and European dishes, and offers romantic views over the private garden. For a delicious local curry, try the Burmese Curry Table, which is a buffet-style restaurant offering fresh and spicy salads and vegetable and meat curries, alongside ice-cold draught beer and delicate Burmese green tea.

Facilities

Enjoy an indulgent spa treatment at The Governor's Oasis. The spa only uses traditional plant extracts and organic ingredients that will nourish your skin and leave it feeling supple and soft afterwards.

Activities at Belmond Governor’s Residence

Whilst your time here will undoubtedly be spent visiting the majestic Shwedegon pagoda and the many other gems of Yangon, you will be glad to return to the Belmond Governor's Residence for a dip in the pool, high tea on the lawn or a signature cocktail in the Kipling bar.
