Inle Princess Resort

The Inle Princess Resort is half an hour by boat from the small town of Nyaung Shwe, along the shores of the famous lake.

The 45 stilted chalets are built in a traditional Shan style using local materials, silk textures, clay-oven fireplaces and ceramics that add refreshing splashes of colour. Ranging from the spacious Mountain Houses to the magnificent Princess Houses, there is no wrong choice as all chalets offer large king beds (or twin if preferred), a private outdoor veranda, a comfortable lounge area and stunning lakeside views.

The resort's disproportionately large restaurant is lit with lanterns made from locally made paper and serves traditional Shan and Intha dishes as well as more familiar dishes from around the world.

Wine lovers will love prowling through the wine cellar which has a colossal selection of over 2,500 wines.

Get out on the lake, where entire villages are built on stilts and where markets float by on canoe clusters. Wind your way through the channels to see the Intha people, keeping a keen eye out for the rare Sarus crane and the endemic wildlife of turtles, birds, fish and reptiles. After a day of excursions, the spa will beckon to you, promising soothing treatments using local methods and ingredients such as Thanaka and coconut oil for its treatments - we’d suggest completing the pampering experience with some meditation or a yoga class.
