Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

The Hotel @ Tharabar Gate is in unique, historic Old Bagan, on the bend of the Irrawaddy River, surrounded by more than 4,000 ancient temples and pagodas.

Rooms at The Hotel @ Tharabar Gate

Each of the 83 rooms and suites is decorated in true Burmese style, featuring high ceilings, teak floors, Bagan brick and marble bathrooms, with traditional furniture and wall paintings that are copies of original local temple paintings. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame the views, and the suites come with private terraces looking out onto the tropical greenery of the gardens and the pagodas beyond.

Food & Drink

Dine on traditional Burmese cuisine at either the semi-open main restaurant or completely al fresco in the peaceful gardens. The pool bar is a lovely spot for a cocktail or two in the evening.

Facilities

The turquoise pool is irresistible - take a dip or lounge poolside, surrounded by trees. Alternatively, spend some time soaking up your surroundings from the hot tub or the sun-kissed terrace, or have some quality time to yourself in the serene spa, which offers signature Burmese and Thai treatments - a massage will help you completely unwind.

Activities at The Hotel @ Tharabar Gate

Hop on one of the hotel’s bikes and take yourself off to explore the temples and landscapes, or enjoy a leisurely horse and cart ride and discover Old Bagan in style. Unmissable, however, is a sunset cruise, which not only lets you see this part of Burma in a different light, but also provides some breathtaking photo opportunities. We also recommend a balloon flight over Bagan to view the temples from above.

The 24-hour butler service will help you make the most of your stay in and around the hotel.
