3 nightsVICTORIA FALLS

The Victoria Falls are truly one of the wonders of the world, a vast column of torrential water and spray which rends the Zambezi River in two and which, at 1700 metres wide, and throwing spray 500 metres into the air, lives up to its local nickname, Mosi-oa-Tunya – ‘the smoke that thunders’. While a trip to the region is worthwhile simply to steal a glimpse of the Falls, there’s plenty of other activities to keep you occupied: the charming town that shares their name offers numerous opportunities for white water rafting, elephant back safaris, and bungee jumping. Your base, the beautiful Victoria Falls Safari Lodge, is perfectly located for enjoying all these activities, with rooms overlooking an active waterhole – don’t miss the nearby Boma Restaurant, for an authentically African culinary and cultural experience.

3 nightsHWANGE NATIONAL PARK

Having taken in the majesty of the Victoria Falls, you’ll be taken by private road transfer to Hwange National Park, the oldest and largest of Zimbabwe’s parks. Hwange’s size is reflected in the variety of its topography: from arid semi-desert in the west to lush teak forest in the east, and from yawning game-rich plains in the south to the rolling hills and bird-rich pans of the north. This variety is reflected in turn in the region’s range of wildlife: buffalo, lion, wild dog, cheetah, and antelope all count among the residents here. You’ll stay at The Hide Safari Camp, a perennial favourite nestled in dense bushveld on the edge of an active waterhole – meaning amazing opportunities for viewing wildlife as they come to drink. An unforgettable experience is a night in the Dove’s Nest, a rustic private tree house under the stars.

3 nightsLAKE KARIBA

The final stop on your luxury Zimbabwe holiday is one of the country’s most beautiful: Lake Kariba in the Matusadona National Park. One of the biggest man-made lakes in the world, Lake Kariba is barely half a century old but already supports a rich ecosystem. Elephant, buffalo, waterbuck and zebra all roam here, as do impala, lion, and a small but vital population of black rhino. You’ll stay at Changa Safari Camp, a haven of tranquillity and relaxation where each East African style tent has its own under-the-stars bath. The camp is perfect for exploring Lake Kariba by boat or on foot: try catching the notorious tiger fish, explore the eerie, partially submerged petrified forest, or simply relax and enjoy the sun going down over Lake Kariba – one of Zimbabwe’s most beautiful sights.
