Hotel Overview

Where

On the banks of the Zambezi River, Zambia.

Rooms at Chiawa

Tents at Chiawa are luxurious, but unpretentious, with wooden floors and terraces looking over the river or the surrounding bush. Game sightings from your armchair or even your bed are entirely possible here! The tents have ample comforts including 24-hour electricity and hot & cold water, both indoor and open-air showers and luxurious old fashioned bathtubs.

Food and Facilities

Chiawa Camp is well known for great food, with the camp’s imaginative kitchen team preparing a European/African fusion menu that’s usually served al-fresco in the bush, or (as on our last visit) on a boat on the river. A huge upstairs viewing deck provides a lounge and bar spot that’s unrivalled on the river. The circular swimming pool by the river’s edge provides the perfect place to cool off in the heat of the day.

Activities at Chiawa

Being located on the banks of the Zambezi River, Chiawa is able to offer safaris on water as well as on land. The camp’s motorized pontoons and Canadian canoes drift gently down the river past herds of elephant and pods of hippos. On land, day safaris are combined with night drives to spot shy nocturnal species like leopard and bushbaby. Anglers will also love the chance to fish for tiger fish.
