On arrival in Uganda, you will be met by your guide and taken to the No.5 Boutique Hotel in Entebbe, set in pretty gardens just a ten-minute drive from the airport. Here, you can relax and unwind away from the centre of town, with a dip in the pool or a visit to the spa, followed by a cocktail on your veranda.

Today, your adventure begins as you are taken to the airstrip for your one-hour flight to Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda's biggest national park. Here, get your first taste of life on safari with a game drive in the park, as you are taken across savannahs, forests and grasslands down to Lake Albert. Along the way, keep your eyes peeled for lions, leopards, elephants, waterbucks and more, as well as a wide variety of birds such as eagles and bee-eaters.

You will also explore by boat on a cruise along the Nile Delta, where you'll see hippos splashing, and, if you're lucky, you'll spot the rare shoebill bird, which has a distinctive shoe-shaped beak. You'll then head up the Nile to the impressive Murchison Falls, where you'll swop the boat for two feet to hike up to the top of the falls, where the Nile squeezes through a seven-metre gap. At its base, huge crocodiles bask in the sun.

Your hotel here is Baker's Lodge, which sits in the park on the banks of the Nile, where you can enjoy safari-style accommodation with wildlife on your doorstep.

Today you'll fly to Kasese before being driven to Kibale National Park, which covers nearly 800 square kilometres, including beautiful tropical forests, and offers exceptional views. You will spend the next morning tracking chimpanzees in Kibale's forests, which are also home to 12 other primate species such as baboons and red-tailed monkeys.

Spend the night at Ndali Lodge, a beautiful boutique hotel whose cottages sit on a 1920s tea plantation overlooking the Rwenzori Mountains.

After lunch, you will make your way to Queen Elizabeth National Park, taking in a game drive on your way in as well as a second game drive the next day. Named after England’s queen, this is Uganda’s most popular and most scenic game reserve, stretching across the crater-dotted Rwenzori Mountains and along the shores of Lake Edward to the remote Ishasha River, with habitats from savannah and lowland forests to vast wetlands.

As you explore the park, you will come across some of the 100-plus animals that live here, including tree-climbing lions, hippos, buffaloes, leopards, hyenas, elephants and maybe the elusive giant forest hog, as well as chimpanzees, monkeys and baboons. A boat ride along the Kazinga Channel offers yet another opportunity to experience the diversity of the park’s landscapes, its open savannahs, dense rainforests and crater lakes.

Kyambura Gorge Lodge is your base here. This lovely eco-lodge offers a quintessential African experience, with wood and thatch chalets perched on the hillside and panoramic views over the gorge and beyond.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is famous for its mountain gorillas, but you’ll also find elephants, chimpanzees, monkeys, antelopes and over 20 bird species here. Trekking with the gorillas is an undoubted highlight of this trip and one of the world’s most exciting wildlife encounters, as you come face to face with these gentle giants of the forest. An experienced ranger will accompany you on your trek, and will bring the forest and its inhabitants to life.
