Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Sitting on the south bank of the Nile River, within the stunning wilderness of Murchison Falls National Park, Ugandan settings cannot be more wildlife-perfect than that found at Baker’s Lodge.

Rooms at Baker's Lodge

Your home at Baker’s Lodge is a free-standing, thatch-roofed safari suite. These traditional wooden constructions are raised from the ground and feature private decks with river views, while the large, netted windows can be opened so you can enjoy looking out over the Nile River and the hippos that live there.

Inside, the suites are comfortable and spacious. The beds and other furnishings are hand-carved from robust native wood, and local handicrafts, artworks and rugs adorn the walls and floors. The open-plan bathrooms have showers or bathtubs, and the hot water and lighting are solar powered.

Food & drink

The lodge has a thatched lounge, bar and dining area, also raised with wooden decks to make the most of the panoramic vistas of the river. Mealtimes at Baker’s Lodge can be personalised to your own requirements, with chef Isaac happy to talk through your options with you: multi-course dinners might include curries, grilled meat and fish dishes, while varied box lunches can be packed for you to take with you on your adventures in the park.

A bush breakfast is an unforgettable way to start the morning, while you can help yourself to hot drinks throughout the day back at the lodge. In the evening, enjoy dinner after watching the sun set over the river.

Facilities

The lodge’s grounds are home to a lovely outdoor swimming pool, which is a relaxing place to take a refreshing dip after a busy day of wildlife spotting. There’s also a boutique where you can pick up handicrafts, books and other items that make for a perfect gift or souvenir.

Activities at Baker's Lodge

Wildlife adventures in Murchison Falls, Uganda’s largest national park, include spotting the unique shoebill stork on the banks of the Nile, and fishing for the huge Nile perch. Safari drives will give you the chance to spot giraffes, elephants and lions, as well as the elusive leopard if you're lucky, while boat trips will take you to the stunning Murchison Falls themselves, seeing hippos and crocodiles en route.
