Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

&Beyond Mnemba Island sits on a private island 4.5km off the north-eastern tip of Zanzibar.

Rooms at &Beyond Mnemba Island

There are just 10 private bandas on the entire island, as well as two adjacent to one another to form a family banda - so there are no more than 24 guests on the island at any one time. The bandas, nestled in the woods along the beach, are spacious and airy, with comfortable mosquito net-draped beds, and have private verandas.

Food & Drink

The lodge serves delicious food with an abundance of fresh seafood and lobster, and you can dine at the thatched dining room and bar or on the beach under the stars as the waves lap beside you. The food here is outstanding and the menus focus on fresh fish straight from the sea.

Facilities

There is a lounge area with games, a library and a video room, and you can bliss out with a massage.

Activities at &Beyond Mnemba Island

Whilst many guests come to Mnemba for the peace and tranquillity of staying on a private island, there is plenty to do for those looking to be active. As well as lazing on the beach, you can take to the water and explore the reef, which is teeming with fish. Home to some of Africa’s best dive sites, the channels around the island are outstanding for snorkelling and diving and the lodge’s dive centre is second to none (visit in the months between September and February for the best visibility). Alternatively, keep your head above water and go kayaking, paddle boarding, deep-sea fishing or windsurfing.
