Sense of Place

On a pristine white sand beach on the edge of Lake Tanganyika, where the majestic Mahale Mountains soar up from the shores of the azure lake.

Rooms at Greystoke Mahale

Tucked beneath the palms along the edge of the beach lie six thatched driftwood bandas. Each one is open-fronted with an adjoining bathroom and an upstairs chill-out deck, designed for the most demanding castaway.

Food & Drink

The impressive two-storey winged dining pavilion is the focal point for relaxed dinners (and chimping tales) and the headland bar, set on the rocks, is the perfect spot for star-gazing and enjoying fresh sashimi and iced vodka with spectacular views over the lake.

The hotel has a small seating area where guests can read up on the local wildlife as well as a library and some board games which guests can play with a view of the lake.

Activities at Greystoke Mahale

Hike through the forest in search of our furry cousins, swim in the crystal clear waters, take out a kayak or boat, enjoy a sundowner boat trip or simply lie on the warm sand with a book from the lodge's library.
