Rooms at Mbuzi Mawe

The 16 well-spaced tents at Mbuzi Mawe are really more like hotel rooms, except with canvas instead of walls. Luxurious though they may be – with queen-sized canopied beds and marble-topped bathrooms – you’re still guaranteed a wonderfully wild experience. Rock hyraxes, for example, may be heard scampering over the canvas above your head, and baboons have been known to pinch cups of sugar from the mess tent! Luckily spear-wielding Askari guards are there to escort you to and from your tent at night, and chase away any surprise visitors.

Food and Facilities

The staff at Mbuzi Mawe really go that extra mile for magical dining experiences: in the evenings, French-style service in the mess tent will be combined with traditional music and dancing, but for a real out-of-Africa experience, we recommend that you book one of their surprise dinners or breakfasts out in the bush.

Activities at Mbuzi Mawe

The diversity of wildlife makes for dramatic game drives all year round, but the twice annual Wildebeest migration is a particularly spectacular time to be here. For National Geographic style views of the sweeping Serengeti below, we can also arrange a sun-rise hot air balloon ride.
