Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Legendary Lodge sits in the countryside outside the city of Arusha, surrounded by verdant tropical gardens and set on a working coffee farm. The looming peak of Mount Meru can be seen from your cottage’s veranda, with the plains of the savannah stretching all around.

Rooms at Legendary Lodge

Legendary Lodge’s twelve cottages combine an old-world colonial style with traditional African design touches and the height of modern comfort, and each one has a private veranda where you can sit and take in views of the mighty Mount Meru.

Bedrooms feature wooden four-poster beds and high ceilings criss-crossed with beams, while the spacious bathrooms are decked out in beautiful dark marble. The living rooms have big, comfortable sofas and armchairs set around stone fireplaces, while underfoot you’ll find exquisite Persian rugs adorning rich, dark wood parquet floors.

Food & Drink

Mealtimes at Legendary Lodge are a flexible affair, enjoyed in the atmospheric setting of the old farmhouse at times suited to you according to your schedule of activities.

A hearty Full English breakfast will set you up right for a day’s adventures out in the bush, while lunch and dinner are both lavish multi-course affairs, with an ever-changing selection of international dishes whipped up from fresh local ingredients. Food is accompanied by a wide selection of spirits, wine, beer and soft drinks.

Facilities

Guests of the lodge enjoy access to a nearby recreation centre, where you’ll find everything you need to get in a good workout or just put your feet up as you see fit - have a game of squash or tennis, do a few laps of the running track, or relax in the sauna or steam room.

Activities at Legendary Lodge

Caffeine lovers are in the right place here, with the lodge sitting on a working coffee plantation, and tours of the factory, taking in the entire process from picking to cup, are a great way to wake up in the morning.

Suitably caffeinated, it’s time to enjoy the area’s main attraction: safari drives and walks in Arusha National Park. With its dense vegetation and the dramatic volcanic scenery of Mount Meru and the Ngurdoto Crater, there’s a distinctly prehistoric feel about the place, and animals you can see here include leopards, hyenas, elephants, and, in particular, striking black and white colobus monkeys.

Serengeti National Park, meanwhile, offers the classic African safari experience, with lions, giraffes and cheetahs all commonly spotted, as well as huge migrations of zebras and wildebeest.
