Hotel Overview

Where

A remote valley in the western corridor of the Serengeti National Park, Tanzania

Rooms at Grumeti River Lodge

Ten large, ivory tents covered in thatch, each come complete with an extravagant bed, psychedelic coloured chairs and Kenyan glassware. The lounge features moulded concrete and beaten-tin furniture, strewn with colourful cushions and intriguing local artefacts. The small plunge pool overlooks a lush river filled with emerald water-lettuce giving it a stunning glittering appearance.

Food and Facilities

The chefs cook up the fresh pan-African cuisine in the jikos, the traditional African clay ovens, in front of the guests and enjoyed under the canopy of stars, right next to the Grumeti river. Sundowners on Kirawira Hill are a perfect way to finish off a long safari day.

Activities at Grumeti River Lodge

The camp’s great location in the Western corridor of the Serengeti means that opportunities to witness the great wildebeest migration every year is exceptional. You’ll see the resident herbivores throughout the year and coming across hippos grazing right next to your tent is commonplace.  If the urge to mix things up a little comes over you, head out for the day to Lake Victoria or see the Serengeti from the skies with a balloon ride.
