In the knowSituated on the banks of the Eerste River, Stellenbosch has some fine examples of classic Cape Dutch-style buildings that are nestled in expansive vineyards with pretty mountain backdrops. We recommend visiting Kanonkop (which produces a particularly excellent bottle of Cabernet blend that is worth a try) and taking a look at the estate’s stunning art gallery.

Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Majeka House is nestled in the green suburbs of Stellenbosch, yet is just a 15-minute walk from Vriesenhof Vineyards and less than a 10-minute drive to the shops and cafés of Stellenbosch's centre.

Rooms at Majeka House

The attractive individually-styled rooms feature antique couches, vintage sideboards and modern four-poster beds, and they are decorated with a combination of neutral tones and vibrant splashes of colour. Striking touches include artworks on the ceilings above the beds.

Food & drink

Head to the stylish Majeka Lounge for a unique cocktail before dinner (we recommend the fynbos mojito). You can also enjoy bar snacks and bistro dishes in the lounge or out on the terrace.

A team of culinary experts heads up the famous Majeka Kitchen restaurant, which is popular with locals and guests alike and offers an innovative menu focusing on local produce, from the hotel's own organic gardens, local farms, and local fishermen. Tuck into the tantalising cuisine served in the elegant dining room, where you can certainly expect delicious choices on the impressive menu.

Facilities

After a day of wine tasting and sightseeing, head back to the hotel for a lavish treatment at the spa. Have a swim in the heated hydrotherapy indoor pool or take advantage of the Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna.

Activities at Majeka House

Take in the garden, mountain or poolside views from your balcony and walk through the fragrant herb garden before making your way over to the well-trodden wine routes and mountain trails nearby - a fun way to go wine tasting is by tuk tuk!

There are complimentary shuttles into Stellenbosch three times a day in season, and the hotel is also within walking distance of the Dylan Lewis Sculpture Garden - a must for art lovers.
