Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

The vast landscapes which surround Nedile Lodge are known as the Bushveld, a region of plains and woodland stretching out as far as the eye can see. The Welgevonden Game Reserve is home not just to the Big Five, but to other creatures such as aardwolves, cheetahs and the fearsome honey badger. The air is alive with the sound of the 300+ bird species which also call the reserve home, including the rare blue crane.

Rooms at Nedile Lodge

There are just five beautiful and spacious suites, guaranteeing a bespoke and secluded experience, and they combine luxurious touches with a rugged style which draws on traditional South African art and design. The adobe-style walls are adorned with woven hangings, rattan rugs sit on the stone floors, and the high ceilings are made from robust wooden beams and woven thatch. The bathrooms come with both indoor and outdoor showers. Two suites can be interconnected to make an ideal family suite.

Take in the views of the bush and the Waterberg Mountains from your outdoor deck, or cosy up by the fireplace on chillier evenings.

Food & Drink

Dining at Nedile Lodge is all about immersion in the environment, from the fresh seasonal ingredients and delicious pan-African menus to the venues, whether you’re eating beneath the stars or around the campfire at the boma.

A typical day will include a hearty breakfast, with a full English breakfast on offer - just the thing to fuel up for a day’s adventures in the bush - and light lunches of salads, sandwiches, cheese and fruit. Dinner will often see you given the chance to try a local delicacy, such as juicy barbecued kudu steaks.

Facilities

After a day exploring the reserve in the African sun, retreat to the lodge’s rock swimming pool, which is the perfect place to cool off while enjoying spectacular views over the valley. Have a drink at the bar, relax in the lounge, and when the evening draws in, head to the stargazing deck and learn about the constellations which can be spotted in this part of the world and discover the importance of the stars in South African folklore.

Activities at Nedile Lodge

Spotting the Big Five - lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants and buffaloes - on an African safari is one of the world’s great travel experiences. You can do just that here, with guided game drives in open-top vehicles and expertly-led walks allowing you to safely get up close to these iconic animals.

Along the way, you’ll learn all about the Big Five and the reserve’s other inhabitants, from wildebeest to zebras and giraffes, thanks to the passion and expertise of the park rangers.
