Rissington Inn is surrounded by unspoilt bushland in the heart of the lowveld region, with rooms set in 10 hectares of colourful gardens and wilderness for as far as the eye can see beyond.

Each of Rissington Inn’s rooms and suites feel like a world of their own, with individual entrances and verandas for added privacy. The garden and hillside suites feature outdoor showers, adding to the feeling of immersion in nature. All the verandas have hammocks, where you can relax and take in the views of the bush. Rooms are comfortable and luxurious while reflecting the rough-and-ready nature of the bush, with adobe-style walls, exposed thatched roofs in the old tobacco barn, and beautiful pine furniture.

Rissington Inn’s restaurant is a cosy spot, candle-lit and with exposed beams and thatched ceiling, where you can enjoy a selection of exquisite traditional dishes based on the freshest, seasonal ingredients from the South African bush. This includes a lot of local trout, game and mouthwatering steak; vegetarians are also well catered for. The hotel bar is a colonial-style space with the feeling of a traditional pub, a great place to enjoy a local wine or beer.

The hotel library is a cosy spot to relax with a good book or meet your fellow guests, with a sitting room area with a television and board games. There’s also a lovely pool where you can cool off after a day’s adventuring in the great outdoors. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable and will gladly help you arrange excursions.

The natural world is your playground here, with ample opportunity for activities in the area around Hazyview and the Kruger National Park. These include hot-air ballooning, trout fishing, horse riding and sports including golf, tennis and bowls. The aptly-named God’s Window offers incredible views over the Blyde River Canyon and is the perfect reward after an arduous hike, and another observation platform can be found at the spectacular Berlin Falls. The Big Five of lion, leopard, African elephant, white rhino and Cape buffalo can all be spotted on game drives in Kruger.
