Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Schoone Oordt Country House sits in the quaint heritage town of Swellendam, along the beautiful Garden Route.

Rooms at Schoone Oordt Country House

The rooms are set away from the main house but have been designed to reflect the same traditional character: with open fires, private patios and claw-foot bathtubs. Romantics should upgrade to the Honeymoon Suite to indulge in the privacy of a lovely cottage right by the forest, with lashings of space and an ornate four-poster bed.

Food & Drink

Breakfast is served in the conservatory and is prepared with fresh fruit from the garden and locally-sourced produce. For dinner, pair a local wine (there are so many to choose from, unsurprisingly) with the delectable tasting menu. Try dishes like the rooibos-smoked beetroot carpaccio with goats cheese, and dark chocolate tart with basil and strawberry compote.

Facilities

Wander through pretty rose gardens and relax by the outdoor swimming pool, taking in the peaceful surroundings.

Activities at Schoone Oordt Country House

Explore the area and visit the Drostdy Museum in town, head out on a walk through the Marloth Nature Reserve, or go for a round of golf at the course overlooking Hermitage Valley.
