Hotel Overview

sense of place

Morukuru Ocean House is set in the 36,000-hectare De Hoop Nature Reserve, one of the most beautiful coastal reserves.

rooms at Morukuru Ocean House

Interiors are inspired by the wonderful fynbos dunes and created in the highest quality. Morukuru Ocean House accommodates eight adults and four children (all ages welcome) in four double suites with ensuite bathrooms that overlook the ocean through beautiful glass doors. The bedrooms are individually designed but feature lovely turquoise and lime hues and pretty touches that echo the sea.

food & drink

There is a central dining area, where you can enjoy gourmet meals whipped up by your private chef and served by your personal butler. At the back of the house, there is an outdoor dining area with a braai - perfect for summer barbecues.

facilities

From any point in the house, you’ll see the amazing views: from the private bar, the swimming pool, the lounge, with its glass walls, the bay windows where you can snuggle up with a book, and from the depths of a free-standing bath filled with bubbles.

activities at Morukuru Ocean House

Utterly private activities bring you the very best that the De Hoop Reserve offers. There are no set schedules, you are masters of your own stay with complete freedom to do as you wish, when you wish. Morukuru Ocean House offers a bird's eye view of the continent's greatest whale nursery, as southern right whales migrate to the shallow coastal basins for the calving and nursing season (from mid-July to November).

You can enjoy the amazing surrounds on guided walks and hikes, 4 x 4 fynbos safaris, bicycle rides, historic cave tours and quad biking excursions. Keen birdwatchers will be in paradise - there are over 250 bird species here to look out for.

For more leisurely days, simply relax by the pool or on the beach at the rock pools.
