Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Just outside the old military outpost of Okahandja, The Elegant Farmstead is set amongst vast landscapes of dry river beds, open plains and mountains, waiting to be explored.

Rooms at The Elegant Farmstead

The rooms and suites have a style of understated luxury and rustic charm, with comfortable beds draped in mosquito nets. The interiors are inspired by the surrounding area, including locally-made furniture, abstract art paintings, woven artisan baskets and animal-skin rugs.

Food & Drink

The traditional Namibian food, served up with soft African tunes to set the mood, will tingle your tastebuds with an explosion of flavours. Ingredients are grown on the farm or locally, and meals are both fresh and innovative. The staff can set up a table in the wine cellar for a romantic date - after all, it’s only right for you to accompany your South African meal with South African wines.

In the evenings, the bar is the place to be to exchange your Namibian adventures with fellow guests while having a nightcap.

Facilities

Lie back on sun beds or distressed leather armchairs by the lavish pool: dotted with boulders, tiger-leaf plants and palmetto scrubs, it is reminiscent of the Okakango and the Okamita, the two famous interconnecting rivers of the area, which flow during the summer months. The pillow-strewn sun beds, barred by wooden pegs, will make you feel like you are lying right at the heart of the African wilderness - perfect for relaxing on with a book from the library. With any luck, you'll see a few animals wandering by.

Activities at The Elegant Farmstead

Okahandja itself is known as the 'Green Town of Namibia' so you can naturally expect some spectacular green landscapes and fantastic flora and fauna, which you can discover on a game drive. The farmstead offers a variety of activities, including morning, afternoon and sundowner game drives, visits to a local village, cheetah tracking excursions and guided walks with a picnic lunch.
