Mowani Mountain Camp

On the plains of the Damaraland savannah.

A handful of thatched structures are scattered across the Mowani camp, their domed roofs sitting inconspicuously against the red boulder backdrop. The rooms offer either valley views or hill-top vistas, with their own outdoor showers and private wooden balconies. Or, for that added slice of luxury, the exclusive suite includes a private lounge, a bush bath and a private butler service.

The camp’s semi-open central area extends over the arid landscape, its two rooms housing cosy leather couches, ottomans and cane chairs. The adjacent dining area serves up some of the finest North African fare, while the secluded outdoor pool peers over the sweeping scenery.

Known for its roaming elephants and the rare black rhino, the area is perfect for guided nature drives or hikes through the magnificent desert scenery. Alternatively, admire the landscape by air and take a hot air balloon ride over the savannah. Be sure to include a visit to the historical site of Twyfelfontein while in the area, famed for its Bushmen engravings and paintings.
