Hotel Overview

Where

Beautiful Benguerra Island off the coast of Southern Mozambique.

Rooms at &Beyond Benguerra Island

There are two cabana rooms, ten casita rooms, and one beautiful villa. The cabanas are cosy and rustic, with their own small deck and plunge pool. The larger casitas are huge, with a private sitting area, large deck, and with beautiful views over the beach. They also have their own gazebos for private starlit dinners. Finally the villa has two rooms and is ideal for friends travelling together.

Food and facilities

Fresh simple food is the order of the day here, and given the extraordinarily remote location, it’s impressive what the chefs managed to create. Being on the edge of the Indian Ocean, there’s of course an abundance of seafood which is peppered with traditional Mozambican and Portuguese flavours, and there’s also a lovely beach-bar crafted from an old dhow boat. Food and drink aside, there’s also a pool (useful as the beach here is quite tidal) and small spa at the lodge.

Activities at &Beyond Benguerra Island

This is an excellent spot for doing precisely nothing. However, if taking it easy isn’t your thing, there’s fishing, snorkelling and diving, horse-riding, kayaks, catamaran trips, and walks in the island villages. We’d definitely recommend these, as they help to give a real sense of where you are, and how the nearby communities live.
