Mkulumadzi is the latest addition to the Robin Pope Safaris portfolio. Already established as one of the best safari companies in Zambia, they’re expanding their operations into Malawi. The opening of Mkulumadzi is the culmination of many years of work restoring wildlife to Majete National Park. With wildlife volumes increasing, and the signature Robin Pope style, this is sure to be a hit with Malawi-lovers.
Perfect forThose who’ve already seen the big five, want just a taster of safari, or who have an interest in conservation.
In the knowFor the classic bush and beach combination, you don’t need to go all of the way out to the Indian Ocean. Instead, add on a few days on the sandy shores of Lake Malawi, at Mkulumadzi’s sister property, Pumulani.

Hotel Overview

Majete National Park. 2012 has brought the reintroduction of big cats to Mkulumadzi, making this Malawi's only Big 5 game reserve.

Rooms at Mkulumadzi

Eight open-fronted chalets on the banks of the Shire River. The style is safari-chic. Think cool, neutral tones, natural materials and a design that brings the outside in.

Food and Facilities

There’s a pool to take a dip in between game drives, a lapa for your evening campfire, and a viewing deck for wildlife-spotting throughout the day. Meals can be eaten both inside and outside, depending on the weather.

Activities at Mkulumadzi

Game drives, walking safaris, and boat trips on the Shire River. For photographers, there is a hide overlooking a nearby waterhole, and visits to the local community are heartily recommended as a key part of Majete’s restoration story.
