Hotel Overview

Where

Offbeat Mara Camp is a seasonal camp in a prime wildlife area. The camp offers a truly private and very traditional safari experience, with superb access to the famous Masai Mara Game Reserve. Well distanced from other lodges and camps, guests benefit from great game viewing 'away from the masses'.

Tents at Offbeat Mara

An exclusive, private tented camp, Offbeat Mara has a traditional bush camp ambience. Overlooking the plains of the Masai Mara, the camp sleeps 12 guests in six large tents, comprising of three doubles and three twins; an extra bed can be added to each tent for small children. Each spacious tent has an ensuite bathroom with hot 'bucket showers', wash basins and flushing toilets, and they are furnished with large, handmade cedar beds, the finest linens and 24-hour solar lighting.

Food and facilities

Informal dining is hosted in the 'mess' tent or around the campfire. The camp serves delicious English breakfasts, light lunches and three course evening meals. Guests can relax or socialise in the bar and mess tent, furnished with comfortable sofas and a writing desk. There is also a library with wildlife guide books - a great place to share safari stories at the end of each day. This is a traditional bush camp where evenings are spent eating dinner under the stars and sharing safari stories around the campfire.

Activities at Offbeat Mara

Day and night-time game drives operate in custom-built Land Cruisers, with bush breakfasts, picnics and sundowners also on offer. Early morning balloon trips are also available and visits to local Masai Manyattas (homesteads) can be arranged upon request. Guests have full access to the game reserve and the Mara River. Walking safaris are led by qualified, experienced guides. Walking is a wonderful and safe way to enjoy the bush and mornings and evenings are the best time to do this. In the morning, walk to a bush breakfast set up ahead of you, and enjoy sundowners in the evening.
