Sosian is one of our favourite spots for going on safari - being private (not a national park or a reserve), you are guaranteed exclusive wildlife experiences here. The Laikipia plateau is home to a number of rare and endangered species and so most activities will revolve around trying to see them as much as possible, either on foot, horseback, camelback or in a 4x4, with specially raised seats to ensure premium wildlife viewing. All safaris are led by expert guides, who will be on constant lookout for elephants cooling off in the rivers, and lions, cheetahs, giraffees and zebras - as well as hartebeests, grant's gazelles and bat-eared foxes - on the open grassy plains. On night-time safaris, you might see leopards, hyenas, aardvarks, buffaloes and hippos. Birdwatchers, meanwhile, can enjoy sightings of hundreds of species of birds.
Sosian is also a working cattle ranch, and you can get stuck in with activities such as dipping cattle.
Aside from the widlife, you can also
visit a local school Sosian supports and head to local villages to meet the tribes. For more action and adventure, there's fishing, archery and tennis on offer, and you can cool off by rafting or tubing down the river and swimming under waterfalls.
