Lewa Safari Camp

Location: Laikipia, Meru & Central Kenya | Kenya

Price guide: £££££ More than £500 per person per night

Of all the conservancies in Kenya, Lewa would probably win the prize for the most beautiful. There’s gorgeous rolling downland, an incredible variety of activities, and extraordinary game viewing with all of the Big Five to be found on the ranch. Lewa Safari Camp is an ideal spot to explore from, with panoramic views over the grasslands, and some of the most welcoming staff in Kenya.
Perfect forRhino lovers. Both black and white rhino are found on the conservancy, and this is one of the few places in Kenya you’re likely to spot them.
In the knowLewa Safari Camp is home to the largest population of Grevy’s zebra in the world. Take a look and see if you can tell them apart from their cousins down on the plains.

Hotel Overview

Where

The Lewa Conservancy on the Laikipia Plateau.

Rooms at Lewa Safari Camp

Twelve beautiful sand-coloured safari tents that are nicely spaced out to offer the guests privacy. The rooms are kept simple and stylish and offer great views as the tents can be opened up to see the world passing by outside. Although it is a camp, the bathrooms are permanent structures so you will find nice white-washed stone instead of canvas that add extra levels of comfort to your stay.

Food and Facilities

Much of the food served at Lewa Safari Camp comes from farms on the nearby conservancy, so expect deliciously fresh meals. And as for facilities? Well, there’s a small pool to take a dip in between activities, and views for miles over the bush. Keep your binos handy for wandering ellies.

Activities at Lewa Safari Camp

With the big five roaming the downs outside, activities focus primarily on morning and afternoon game drives. However, there’s also the chance to try walking safaris, horse riding and camel trekking. Lewa Safari Camp places a real emphasis on conservation, so there’s also the opportunity to learn about the day to day workings of the conservancy.
