Hotel Overview

Where

On the desolate Makgadikgadi Salt Pans, deep in the Kalahari Desert.

Rooms at San Camp

Six stylish, pale canvas tents. Elegant and simply beautiful, like the wilderness all around.

Food and Facilities

It’d be fair to say that you don’t travel to one of the most remote regions on earth in the expectation of wi-fi and 24 hour satellite TV- in fact, many guests come to actively escape them! Instead, there’s a beautiful yoga tent, a tiny library and natural history collection in the mess, and a cushion-strewn tea-tent, which provides a respite from the harsh desert climate. Food is good, and positively extraordinary when you take a moment to look around and see where you are.

Activities at San Camp

There are game drives on offer, but this isn’t big game territory (for that we’d suggest you combine San Camp with one of the fabulous options in the Okavango Delta). Instead, you’ll be concentrating on the bigger things (quad biking over the vast empty expanses of lunar landscape), and the smaller (getting up close to families of inquisitive meerkats). There are also walks with  Zu/’hoasi bushman trackers, for an extraordinary insight into their culture and lifestyle. You can also visit Chapman’s Baobab, one of the oldest trees in Africa.
