After months (sometimes years) making plans for the big day, finding inspiration for a once-in-a-lifetime honeymoon experience can sometimes be a little tricky. Luckily we’re here to help. We recently spoke to our friends at 5starweddingdirectory.com to share some of our top tips to help you plan the perfect honeymoon.
1. Most honeymooners are interested in doing a twin centre honeymoon where they may go want one 'active' week - safari in Africa; Inca Trail trek to Machu Picchu; soaking up the culture in a European city - followed by a week relaxing on a beach at the end. We would recommend that honeymooners consider doing the relaxation part of their holiday first and the active part second. It’s easy to forget that following the excitement and adrenalin of your wedding day, winding down on a beach is just the tonic you’ll need.
2. It’s definitely worth considering delaying your honeymoon to broaden your options on where you can go. With a higher percentage of summer weddings, the options for honeymoons are significantly limited. If you get married during the summer months, consider taking a short trip after the wedding but taking your actual honeymoon during the UK’s Autumn/Winter when the weather is more favourable.
3. Ensure the both of you incorporate your individual passions and interests into your honeymoon; there should be something they both love to do. Not only will this help to ensure your honeymoon is one of the best holidays you’ll ever had, it will also encourage you to compromise - the key to any successful marriage!
4. One final thing is for couples to consider setting up a Honeymoon Gift List. This works particularly well for couples who have been together for some time, who have already got all the Le Creuset dishes you need!
