Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Sol y Luna is located in the heart of the Sacred Valley, just 1km from the town of Urubamba and 57kms from Cusco, the capital of the Inca empire, on the way to the famous ‘Lost City of the Incas’, Machu Picchu.

Rooms at Sol y Luna

There are over 40 individual casitas, which are dotted around the estate and blend seamlessly into the Andean landscape. Built largely from locally-sourced materials, the casitas are Peruvian through and through, with fine handmade local furniture and exquisite bed linen made from 100% high density local cotton, and decorated with local tapestries and beautiful frescoed murals by acclaimed local artists.

Mod cons include individually controlled heating, private marble-tiled bathrooms and Wi-Fi, whilst Deluxe and Premium Deluxe Casitas also have TVs, integrated sound systems, underfloor heating and wood-burning fireplaces. Premium Deluxe Casitas also have private terraces with Jacuzzis, with amazing views over the Andes. The terracotta-roofed, circular Superior Casitas are surrounded by the gorgeous Sacred Valley landscape, wildflowers and trees.

Food & Drink

There are two outstanding restaurants at Sol y Luna, headed up by internationally-renowned Peruvian chefs, serving delicious dishes that are a fusion of local authenticity and European finesse. If you want to relax with a drink, head to one of the lounge areas or the Pisco bar. An exclusive wine cellar is also available for courses on food and wine pairing.

Facilities

Enjoy a swim in the freshwater swimming pool or visit the fabulous spa for some rejuvenation, and browse the boutique, which showcases the work of popular Peruvian artists.

Activities at Sol y Luna

There are plenty of adventure activities to get involved in here: the riding stables offer horse riding on Peruvian 'Paso' horses (or alternatively you can watch a demonstration), and also on offer are mountain biking, hiking, paragliding, quad biking, canoeing on Lake Huaypo and rafting on the Urubamba River, to name just a few.

Cultural activities include cooking demonstrations, traditional weaving and pottery workshops, and music and dance shows. Further afield, there are guided excursions to the heritage-rich surrounding area, including Machu Picchu, Ollantaytambo and the Patacancha Valley, Cusco and the market town of Pisac.
