The hotel is set is a beautiful park, which has been meticulously landscaped and is home to scores of native and exotic plant species. It backs onto the iconic Parana River, which can be viewed from every guestroom in the hotel, and the surrounding vegetation is home to howler monkeys, capybaras, and hundreds of bird species.

Puerto Valle’s 13 guestrooms all boast views over the Parana River and have a stylish, contemporary design. Touches illustrate the property’s long history, particularly in the rooms in the historic 19th-century house, which have adobe walls, high ceilings and beautiful marble floors.

The food at Puerto Valle combines a traditional emphasis on fresh, local ingredients with contemporary techniques to serve up gourmet takes on classic Argentine cuisine. Local river fish and fresh citrus fruits feature prominently; vegetables and herbs for the food are grown in the hotel’s on-site organic garden. At breakfast, a range of homemade pastries are on offer alongside local specialities such as chipa cheese buns.

Facilities

The hotel’s pleasant gardens are home to an outdoor infinity pool, which melts away into the horizon of the Parana River, and a palapa ­– a thatched hut over the river, perfect for relaxing in the shade of a hot afternoon. Indoors, there’s a cosy living room with a fireplace and small library.

The area surrounding the hotel features lakes, marshlands and wetlands, against the backdrop of native forests and the Parana River.
