Casa de Uco

Location: Cordoba, Mendoza & Winelands | Argentina

Price guide: $$$$$ $100-$200 per person per night

Casa de Uco is a stylish design hotel and self-styled ‘wine resort’ in the vineyards of the Uco Valley in western Argentina. An eye-catching angular mish-mash of wood and glass rising from the vineyards, this is a chic, modern hotel, but the wine is very much the main event. You’d be forgiven for spending most of your time at tastings in the cellar, but don’t forget to sample the gourmet cuisine at the restaurant, or explore the nearby Andes Mountains.
Perfect forLovers of wine and beautiful landscapes - there's plenty of both here!

Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Surrounded by 320 acres of rolling vineyards, with the Andes mountains on one side and the Tunuyan River on the other, Casa de Uco has a pretty impressive location. The rooms offer fantastic views of the countryside, which can be explored on foot, horseback or by bike.

Rooms at Casa de Uco

Casa de Uco offers seven guest rooms, nine suites, and a collection of vineyard bungalows; all offer magnificent views of the vineyards and the Andes through huge floor-to-ceiling windows. The rooms have private balconies with cosy day beds and a sleek, contemporary design; suites are similarly appointed but also feature separate living and dressing areas. The private bungalows are spread throughout the vineyards, and have a unique cuboid design of concrete, wood and glass.

Food & Drink

Chefs Pablo and Carlos Torres are Mendoza locals who are committed to sustainable cooking and a farm-to-table ethos; ingredients are fresh, seasonal, and grown in the hotel’s organic vegetable garden. Dishes include lacquered pork belly, Bolivian chicken picante and goat paella; there’s also a range of barbecued meats on offer around a firepit in the vineyards. Needless to say, a glass of wine is never too far away.

Facilities

Even at the Uco Spa, wine makes an appearance, with a range of vinotherapy treatments on offer alongside aromatherapy and massage. There’s also a cedar wood sauna, hydrotherapy baths and a traditional hammam, among other facilities. Away from the spa, the open-air deck and terrace are perfect for taking in the views of the vineyards and mountains while you catch some rays.

Activities at Casa de Uco

It will be no surprise to learn that wine tastings are high on the agenda at Casa de Uco, and the house sommelier leads a programme of activities in the cellar. Olive oil tastings and cookery classes are also on offer. If you want to work all that off, a range of outdoor activities are available, including horseback rides through the vines, trekking and mountain bike trails, or even paragliding in the Andes.
