Hotel Overview

Sense of place

There’s a homely atmosphere throughout, from the soul food at the restaurant to the cosy accommodations, and the feeling is only heightened by the friendliness of the staff, who will go to great lengths to ensure your stay is as pleasant as possible.

Rooms at Estancia La Angostura

La Angostura is home to just six guest rooms, which have as cosy and rustic a feel as the rest of the hotel. The design is simple and tasteful, with stone tiled floors, wooden shutters, and photographs of the surrounding countryside adorning the walls. If you’re feeling adventurous and fancy spending a night under the stars, there is also a camping area, with its own bathrooms and running hot water.

Food & Drink

Just like everything else here, the food has a homely feel, with hearty, traditional recipes based on fresh local produce; particular specialties include lamb, country stew, puddings and home-baked pastries and sweets. A culinary highlight is the roasted piglet, cooked on a spit over an open fire. Ingredients are almost always fresh and grown or reared locally.

Facilities

This is a traditional country lodge, and as such does not feature a spa or any other fancy facilities; little has changed in the way of life here in its century-long history.

Activities at Estancia La Angostura

This area is fantastic for bird-watching, and hundreds of rare and highly sought-after species can be spotted just moments from the hotel; flamingoes can often be spotted congregating in the garden. Horse riding, trekking and fishing are also popular activities in the surrounding countryside; not to be missed is a trip to the beautiful Tonchi’s Lagoon.
