The word ‘cosy’ could have been invented for Posada Los Juncos, from its log cabin exterior to its atmospheric rooms and common areas. Food is enjoyed by candlelight in the wooden dining room, while the guest rooms reflect the views outside with extensive use of organic materials.

Rooms and suites at Posada Los Juncos reflect the cabin’s rustic nature, with extensive use of wood – including unique features such as tree trunk headboards – and cosy knitted fabrics and pillows. The views from the rooms represent the hotel’s fantastic, varied location: some look deep into the forest, while others overlook the bay and the city beyond. The Water Room, meanwhile, overlooks the lake, and is themed around a traditional fishing boat, with a blue-and-white colour scheme and wooden panelling on the walls.

As with everything else at Posada Los Juncos, dining is a hearty, homely affair. At breakfast, home-baked croissants and pastries accompany fresh fruits, cereals and cooked options. At dinner, chefs Gaby and Agustina whip up a range of comforting dishes, such as lamb stew, hearty soups with home-baked bread, and Weiner Schnitzel. Dinner is enjoyed in the atmospheric dining room, lit by candles.

Massage treatments can be arranged on request, and are the perfect remedy to those tired muscles after a day’s adventures in the mountains. Children are welcome at the hotel, and babysitting services can be organised with prior notice.

San Carlos de Bariloche is a paradise for lovers of fresh mountain air, with skiing, hiking and mountain biking all great ways to explore the hills; kayaking, rafting and fishing are all on offer on the beautiful lake. The city is surrounded by natural beauty, but also has plenty going on culturally, with film festivals and food events regular fixtures on the calendar.
