The Delano Las Vegas

Location: The American Southwest | USA

Price guide: $$$$$ $200-$350 per person per night

In contrast to some of its flashier neighbours, like the pseudo-Egyptian Luxor, The Delano showcases a restrained, tasteful side of Las Vegas. Boasting a superb location on the Strip, the hotel is home to luxurious, minimalist suites, a stylish spa and the superb Rivea restaurant, courtesy of legendary chef Alain Ducasse.

In the knowCheck out the art installations near the elevators: they change regularly, but recent exhibitions have showcased the flora and fauna of the Mojave Desert, vintage cocktail menus and the colourful Las Vegas fashion scene

Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

The Delano sits on South Las Vegas Boulevard, better known as the Las Vegas Strip: four miles of neon-lit hotels and casinos devoted to the pursuit of a good time. Iconic neighbours of The Delano include Mandalay Bay and the Luxor.

Rooms at The Delano

All The Delano’s suites feature a minimalist style, with an elegant colour palette of white and silver. The bathrooms are also rather opulent, decked out in beautiful dark marble with lights set in to the huge mirrors.

All the suites also feature huge floor-to-ceiling windows for you to fully enjoy the main attraction: the views of the bright lights of Las Vegas and the desert beyond, which you can enjoy from plush seating areas.

Food & Drink

As is par for the course at Vegas resorts, you’re spoilt for choice at The Delano when it comes to eating and drinking options. The excellent Rivea serves up gourmet French and Italian-influenced cuisine with a particular emphasis on seafood: think clam linguine, grilled octopus salad and lobster risotto. For a more rustic atmosphere, head to Delia’s Kitchen, which specialises in home-style comfort food.

When it comes to an after-dinner drink, try a martini at the suitably Bond-esque Skyfall Lounge or relax with a craft cocktail in the elegant Lobby Bar.

Facilities

Head to the Beach Club, exclusive to guests, where you can sip cocktails by the pool, just steps from the sands of Mandalay Bay Beach. Quirky elements include a submerged chess board. The Delano’s Bathhouse Spa is a stylish, industrial-style space which houses all manner of luxurious wellness facilities, including a redwood sauna, a eucalyptus steam room and hot and cold whirlpools. You can keep on top of your exercise regime at the in-house gym, which is kitted out with state-of-the-art equipment.

Activities at The Delano

Las Vegas, of course, is all about entertainment, and there’s no shortage of that here, with the casinos, hotel resorts and venues of the Strip on your doorstep. If you fancy a flutter, you’ve certainly come to the right place, with the MGM Grand, Bellagio and Caesar’s Palace (to name just a few) among the most iconic casinos in the world.

If you’re feeling brave, take on the huge rollercoasters at the Big Apple Coaster & Arcade; if you’re after something a little less hair-raising, why not check out a show at Mandalay Bay, the Park Theater, or the countless other venues which welcome big-name stars and world-beating acts throughout the year.
