Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Sitting on the borderline of the Sequoia and Kings Canyon national parks, the High Sierra Camp is surrounded by natural beauty. Perched on a steep, forested hill overlooking Kings Canyon itself, the camp is set in thick forest, with rolling meadows and winding hiking trails in easy reach.

Rooms at Sequoia High Sierra Camp

Accommodation at the camp takes the form of comfortable tented cabins, wood and metal structures with canvas walls. Inside, the cabins are simple but comfortable, with twin or double beds, artisan furnishings and Native American-style rugs. Guests share the use of the bathhouse, which features private shower stalls with hot water, dressing areas and separate bathrooms. Toiletries and towels are supplied.

Food & Drink

All your daily meals are included in your stay at the camp, with hearty traditional food on offer to keep you fuelled for your outdoor adventures. Breakfast takes the form of a robust buffet, with bacon and eggs, healthy home-made granola and fresh fruit, and vegetarian options such as frittatas all on offer. For lunch, guests can pack a picnic from a wide selection of deli meats and cheeses, drinks and snacks.

The main event, though, is dinner: an extravagant five-course affair using locally sourced ingredients. Sample dishes include Italian-style antipasti, Sequoia river trout and crème brulée garnished with local berries.

Facilities

This being a rural glamping site, it’s all about the natural environment – with plenty of creeks and rivers to swim in. Begin your day with a visit to the open-air yoga pavilion.

Activities at Sequoia High Sierra Camp

A range of outdoor activities suit all fitness levels. A gentle hike will take you across the meadows, wildflowers and creeks, or the nearby Mitchell Peak – overlooking Kings Canyon and Monarch Divide – offers more of a challenge. Fly fishing in nearby rivers, such as Boulder Creek and Rowell Creek, is a popular activity, with fishing equipment available on-site. Horse riding is a great way to spot wildlife: local inhabitants include black bears, chipmunks and deer.

The clear night skies make this a fantastic spot for stargazing, and the camp has a powerful telescope for guests to use.
