Hotel Overview

Where

Toronto’s arty West Queen West district.

Rooms at The Drake

The Drake’s 19 ‘Crash Pads’ are on the small side, but you don’t notice thanks to their clever design. High ceilings, hardwood floors and exposed brick walls give the rooms a retro feel, but they’re brought back into the 21st century with glass shower stalls and walls covered in contemporary art. If you need a little more space, opt for a Den or a Salon room.

Food and Facilities

To put it simply, you’re spoilt for choice at The Drake. Eating and drinking begins with complimentary popcorn and champagne on arrival. From there, with its battered leather booths and library of well-read books, head to the Lounge for a lazy afternoon steak. Post-dinner, climb up to the rooftop for cocktails at the Sky Bar, all in preparation for your night at indie venue, Underground. The next morning, along with the rest of the neighbourhood, recover with a Drake breakfast on the cafe’s terrace.

Activities at The Drake

Dancing, drinking and eating are the main affairs here, and it’s hard to avoid them. If dancing all night to the next big indie band isn’t for you, then you’ll find all of the usual big-brand shops and swanky restaurants towards the east of Queen Street West; although, don’t miss the quirky Drake General Store next door for unusual souvenirs. The Sky Yard also hosts rooftop yoga and regular “drive-in” themed movie nights with marshmallow roasting.
