Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Fogo Island Inn sits atop a rocky bluff on the remote Fogo Island, in the heart of a small fishing community off Newfoundland’s dramatic north-eastern coast, overlooking the Atlantic.

Rooms at Fogo Island Inn

The 29 guest suites each offer their own gorgeous ocean views from floor-to-ceiling windows, alongside bespoke furnishings created by local boat-builders, and colourful locally-made art and fabrics, including handmade patchwork quilts on the beds. There is also a pair of binoculars in every room for birdwatching and gazing out over the coastline.

Food & Drink

Enjoy the delicious flavours of the island and the region at the restaurant – considered one of Canada's best - where the gourmet dishes include fresh local seafood, seasonal berries (there are said to be 16 different varieties) and locally-foraged mushrooms.

Facilities

Fog Island Inn has wood-burning fireplaces to cosy up to, an art gallery showcasing local artists, a library with plenty of books on the local area and its culture, a cinema, and a rooftop deck with wood-burning saunas and relaxing hot tubs.

Activities at Fogo Island Inn

Fogo Island Inn claims to have seven seasons: winter, ice, spring, trap berth, summer, berry, and late fall. With each season comes a different selection of activities around the beautiful island landscapes: hiking, cycling, stargazing, storm watching, skiing, skating, fishing, beach walking, bonfire nights, rowing, kayaking, foraging, seal and caribou spotting and even Northern Lights viewing are all on offer here.

The inn is an intrinsic part of the local community, supporting the small population, providing jobs (many of the staff are islanders) and reviving traditional skills. Join one of the island hosts to discover more about the skills of the islanders (as showcased in your suite), from woodworking to quilt-making.
