Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Seal River Heritage Lodge sits on the shores of Hudson Bay, near the Seal River estuary, a beautiful setting from which to see polar bears up close in their natural habitat. Expansive picture windows make the most of the setting and the views.

Rooms at Seal River Heritage Lodge

In keeping with the lodge’s homely atmosphere, there are just a small number of cosy rooms to choose from, including queen, twin and family rooms, with comfortable beds and expansive windows offering premium views of the Northern Lights and the locals - polar bears are prone to roaming past! It's all about the great outdoors here though, so you won't be spending much time in your room...

Food & Drink

All meals at the lodge are freshly prepared using local ingredients, each home-cooked every day according to what’s in season. Enjoy meals communally in the dining room, while snacks, homemade cookies, wines and cocktails are on offer throughout the day. Take in spectacular views over Hudson Bay as you dine.

The lodge's chefs have written their own cookbook series titled Blueberries and Polar Bears, so expect some excellent fare on your visit.

Facilities

Spend an evening relaxing by the fireplace, mapping out routes in the lodge's library, taking in the scenery and wild inhabitants from the viewing tower, or listening to fascinating wildlife talks and presentations by experts in the lounge.

Activities at Seal River Heritage Lodge

Activities vary, depending on the time of year that you choose to visit and what tours are available. Come during the summer to see birds, bears and beluga whales, visit in winter for snowy landscapes, memorable Arctic safaris and to see the enigmatic Northern Lights. You'll get up close to the bears, watch hundreds of beluga whales and spot wildlife such as the Arctic fox as you trek through the tundra.
