Casa Palopo

Casa Palopó is perched on the hillside overlooking three stunning volcanoes on Lake Atitlan.

There are 15 colourful boutique rooms and suites, as well as a three-bedroom villa, which has a large kitchen area and living area with fireplaces, and terraces with infinity pools, Jacuzzis and gazebos. All rooms feature unique indigenous, contemporary and African textiles and artworks, alongside bathrooms with glass-enclosed rainfall showers, and have stunning views of the volcanoes and the lake.

At 6.8 Palopó, linger over gourmet cuisine throughout the day - in the morning, tuck into a traditional Guatemalan breakfast of chilaquiles (tortilla chips with chorizo and mozzarella) alongside eggs, black beans and plantains; at lunch, enjoy Guatemalan quesadillas or a Palopó burger, and in the evening, the menu includes sirloin steak and salmon fillets, as well as an impressive international wine list. Dine inside by candlelight, or on the terrace while taking in the spectacular views - this is the place to be at sunset. As night falls, head to the cosy bar for a drink by the fireplace.

Take a refreshing dip in the solar-heated pool, and relax afterwards in the poolside lounge chairs or on the beach, or indulge in a massage.

Go boating or kayaking on the lake, or hike around the lake and the volcanoes. Explore the characterful Mayan villages along the shores of Lake Atitlán, such as the nearby Santa Catarina Palopó, or cross the lake to Santiago Atitlán, known for its vibrant markets and textiles.
