Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Peace and quiet are the aim of The Kandy House. Situated on the outskirts of Kandy, between paddy fields and a private tropical garden, the only noises you will be hearing are those of Mother Nature.

Rooms at The Kandy House

The Kandy House has just nine unique and beautiful rooms, affectionately named after the butterflies that thrive in the country. The are spacious and luxurious, and come with elegant antique furnishings and rich colours. Perhaps you’ll choose the Indian Admiral, with its king-size four-poster bed, or the Black Rajah, with its octagonal stone bath and a double swing hammock in the nearby secret garden. Enjoy the services of your very own personal butler.

Food & Drink

The Kandy House's cuisine is simply exquisite. The chef conjures up delicious Sri Lankan and international dishes, made with fresh produce from the daily markets. Don't miss the sumptuous feast of ten traditional Sri Lankan curries.

Lunch can be enjoyed at the restaurant on the veranda, by the pool or on your private terrace, and in the evening we recommend the moreish cocktails.

Facilities

The picturesque infinity pool overlooks the paddy fields and is perfect for cooling off in, or try your hand at cricket, the nation's most beloved sport, on the hotel's lawn. Keep an eye out around the gardens for the colourful local birds and butterflies.

The Kandy House has its own resident masseur and Ayurvedic therapist for massages and reflexology, and private yoga classes can be arranged - the grounds are a beautiful setting for some tranquil meditation.

Activities at The Kandy House

In the surrounding area, see wildlife from monkeys to elephants and visit the local tea plantations and learn how it is grown while enjoying a freshly-made brew.

Kandy Lake provides a good sanctuary for a serene walk or boat trip to contrast with the hustle and bustle of the town, or borrow one of the hotel's bikes to explore the nearby paddy fields and temples. The Temple of the Tooth sits on the lakeshore, where you can watch ancient ceremonies presided over by resident monks.

At night, the Kandyan Art Association puts on a lively cultural show, with traditional dancing and drumming, which was originally performed for the Kandyan kings.
