Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Leopard Trails is in the heart of Sri Lanka’s Yala National Park.

Rooms at Leopard Trails

The five tents at Leopard Trails place you right within the park for all the atmosphere of an authentic safari, boosted by the tents’ colonial style. Stretch out in your roomy double bed after a day’s adventure and wake up in the morning with a coffee on your private veranda, listening to the sounds of the wilderness coming to life.

The canvas tents are set up the day before your arrival to ensure the preservation of the national park you're visiting, either Yala, Wilpattu or Udawalawe, and they include queen-sized beds, living areas, storage space and solar-powered lighting. Outside the tent there's a separate bathroom area with a hot shower.

Food & drink

Cooking up a choice of delicious Sri Lankan dishes, we've yet to find a better start to the day than honey-roasted coconut pancakes for breakfast. The passionate chefs at Leopard Trails produce dishes on par with any first-rate hotel. Suggestions will be welcomed and the staff are more than happy to fire up a starlit barbecue if it takes your fancy, best followed up by a glass of red wine to swap safari stories beside the crackling campfire.

Activities at Leopard Trails

The early morning wake-up call will never have been so welcome, with the prospect of watching a leopard on an early morning hunt as you drive towards the sunrise. Your expert guides are in the know for game drives at both dusk and dawn - such as where to watch the crocodiles basking in the sun, or which watering hole the herd of elephants will be bathing at.

After observing and learning the wonders of the wilderness from the Leopard Trails experts, return to the luxurious camp for an ice-cold sundowner.
