Hotel Overview

Sense of place

The Oberoi Rajvilas is hewn from sandstone and marble and clad in pink Jaipuri plaster, and surrounded by 32 acres of beautiful landscaped gardens where exotic birds flit between the trees. The atmosphere and service are both traditional and friendly.

Rooms at Oberoi Rajvilas

Oberois Rajvilas’ luxurious rooms and suites are arranged in clusters around open courtyards with ornate, traditional fountains covered by green canopies. For extra exclusivity, choose a Kohinoor Villa or Luxury Villa, which have private pools, or choose one of the stately tent accommodations for a luxurious taste of Rajasthani desert life. All tents, villas and rooms are beautifully appointed in a traditional, colonial style, with Indian artworks adorning the walls and bathrooms hewn from white marble.

Food & drink

At Surya Mahal, open from breakfast to dinner, you’ll enjoy delicious classic Indian cuisine as well as Mediterranean and Asian dishes in a beautiful setting bathed in natural light thanks to huge wall to wall windows. At the exquisite Raj Mahal, you can further explore the depth and variety of Indian cuisine with obscure and unusual dishes from remoter corners of the country. At Rajwada Library Bar, enjoy a cocktail, whiskey or glass of wine in a refined, colonial setting, with a Burmese teak floor, marble fireplace and ottoman furniture.

Facilities

The Oberoi Spa is as grand as the rest of the hotel, housed in a restored 18th century haveli mansion with pink Jaipuri plaster and vegetable dye frescoes, and offers a range of treatments inspired by ancient Ayurveda. Yoga and meditation are also offered every morning in the Shiva temple around which the hotel is built.

Activities at Oberoi Rajvilas

The historical and cultural attractions of Jaipur are within easy reach, with the majestic City Palace, home to the Jaipur royal family, around 30 minutes’ drive away. The huge, opulent façade of the Hawa Mahal is also close by, as is the medieval observatory Jantar Mantar. There’s plenty to keep you occupied at the hotel, too: bi-weekly interactive history sessions are held in the Rajwada Library Bar, where you can learn more about the rich past and culture of Rajasthan. At the Raj Mahal restaurant, meanwhile, a private cookery lesson will see you learn the ancient secrets of Indian cuisine.
