Hotel Overview

Sense of place

White sand, azure sea, tiny islands tufted with palm trees – the setting of the Four Seasons Private Island Maldives at Voavah offers picture-postcard tropical island stuff. The waters around the resort are teeming with marine life from turtles to manta rays, and to the west, each day ends in spectacular fashion as the sun sinks over the Baa Atoll.

Rooms at Four Seasons Private Island Maldives at Voavah

The hotel’s seven bedrooms are split between two suites, the two-bedroom Water Villa, and the three-bedroom Beach Villa. The suites, which sit on the upper floor of the main beach house, offer the finest views over the island. With a rustic-chic design, they have carved wooden doors, high thatched ceilings and a breezy, open-plan feel. Oozing classic barefoot luxury, they feature plenty of outdoor seating and a pool table in the loft lounge.

Even greater exclusivity is on offer in the villas. The Water Villa sits above the island’s lagoon, giving you a prime snorkelling location, and also has a deck with a sunset infinity pool, sunloungers and hammocks – the perfect place to spend an evening. The Beach Villa, meanwhile, opens directly onto the sand, and its three bedrooms each sit in their own pavilion. The deluxe bathrooms have outdoor ‘garden showers’.

Food & Drink

Dining at Four Seasons Private Island Maldives at Voavah is a moveable feast, both in terms of the menu and the venue; it’s up to you whether you want to sample Maldivian delicacies, tuck into a poolside barbecue, try sashimi fresh from the ocean, or enjoy more familiar pleasures such as filling pizzas and hearty stir-fries. You can dine wherever the mood takes you: on the beach, in your suite or villa, or aboard the resort’s private yacht, the 19-metre-long Voavah Summer; make the trip to a deserted sandbank or nearby island for a desert island dinner to remember.

Facilities

The hotel's dazzling variety also applies to the evening entertainment – enjoy traditional Maldivian entertainment, or invite a DJ to keep things moving into the small hours. The blissful overwater Ocean of Consciousness spa offers a wide range of wellness therapies, from traditional massages to cutting-edge audiotherapy, with each guest receiving a programme of treatments tailored to their own needs. Yoga and breathing classes are also on offer, and expert Ayurvedic practitioners and acupuncturists are on call.

Activities at Four Seasons Private Island Maldives at Voavah

Needless to say, marine activities are high on the agenda here, with opportunities to swim with dolphins and sea turtles, snorkel with magnificent manta rays (these aquamarine waters are home to one of the world’s largest populations of manta rays), and, for the brave, dive with sharks. On top of the water, kite surfing, jet skiing and fishing are all on offer. A range of dives and dive courses are provided by the hotel's PADI centre.

Of course, that all may sound rather too energetic for your liking. If so, there’s no end of opportunities to laze on the beach, sunbathing and spotting hermit crabs, or head out on a scenic sunset cruise aboard the private yacht, which is yours to use anytime you like.

For children, activities include swimming classes, turtle tours and island treasure hunts.
