Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

The Mercer is tucked away in the heart of Barcelona's Gothic Quarter, a prime spot for soaking up the charms of this beautiful city. Historic sights nearby include the cathedral, the ancient Temple of Augustus, and the Basilica de Santa Maria del Mar.

Rooms at Mercer Barcelona

The rooms and suites at Mercer Barcelona blend the hotel’s historic heart with modern elegance. The whitewashed exposed stone walls match the crisp white linens, while outside your window you’ll have views over either the ancient Gothic streets or the inner vertical garden.

The rooms have a minimalist feel, with a rustic edge added by beautiful ceiling beams and wooden furniture. The more traditional elements contrast with contemporary light fittings, modern art and that rare treat: complimentary mini-bars. The bathrooms are unequivocally modern and minimalist, with rain-effect showers.

Some Superior Rooms are uniquely located within the building’s old defence tower, while Junior Suites overlook the hotel’s pretty orange garden. The opulent Mercer Suite occupies the third floor, and includes a large, artily decorated living room.

Food & Drink

When it comes to dining, the Mercer offers plenty of options. Mediterranean dishes are made with the freshest local produce at the Mercer restaurant, an intimate eatery with just nine tables. Le Bouchon, meanwhile, is a traditional bar and bistro serving classic tapas dishes such as Iberian chorizo and Andalucian squid.

Descend to the Cocktail Lounge for signature Mercer cocktails between ancient stone walls, or head up to the wooden-decked roof terrace for snacks and drinks with a view.

Facilities

There is a pool on the roof terrace – perfect for cooling off from the summer heat and relaxing.

Activities at Mercer Barcelona

The historic attractions of central Barcelona are right on your doorstep here. Begin your exploration at the Temple of Augustus, just a three-minute walk away from the hotel. Here you’ll discover the remains of a 2,000-year-old Roman temple, with the original columns still standing tall.

Next, check out the Cathedral of Barcelona, an imposing Gothic masterpiece, before heading further into the city and paying a visit to Gaudi’s iconic Sagrada Familia. Building began on this distinctive basilica in 1882, and it still isn’t finished.

For contemporary art, visit the Museu Picasso, also just a stone’s throw away from the hotel.
