Hotel Overview

Sense of place

Belmond Castello di Casole is surrounded by quintessential Tuscan scenery, with Siena and Florence not far away. The beautiful medieval hilltop town of San Gimignano is just 7km from the hotel.

Rooms at Belmond Castello di Casole

The luxurious rooms and suites have been beautifully restored, and are located inside the castle or nearby, overlooking the olive groves. They feature local antique furniture, giving them that authentic Tuscan feel - the wood-beamed ceilings, stone walls and luxurious 21st-century Italian fabrics are a delicate marriage of old and new. The bathrooms are decorated with Carrara marble and mosaics, exuding elegance and sophistication in rich tones of gold, olive and terracotta.

Food & Drink

Prepare to have your tastebuds blown at Belmond Castello di Casole. The Tosca restaurant offers classic Italian fare, including fresh seafood, homemade pasta and freshly-baked bread served with estate-grown extra virgin olive oil. Sit in a luxurious leather chair under the Murano glass chandeliers, and cosy up in one of the more intimate booths for delicious food and wine from the estate's 100 acres of vineyards. Enjoy more delicious Italian fare at Cip's Club by Belmond Hotel Cipriani, which serves up Venetian and Tuscan specialities on the terrace.

Afterwards, head to Bar Visconti where every evening is a posh affair. You’ll feel like an A-lister sipping on a glass of local wine or a fancy cocktail with black and white stills from Italian director Visconti’s films adorning the walls, along with frescoes – a nod to the great master painters of the Renaissance era.

The luxurious Essere spa, housed in the former wine cellar beneath barrel-vaulted ceilings, has seven treatment rooms, steam rooms and a private garden. The selection of treatments include soothing massages using grapes, rosemary, honey and olive oil, which will leave you with a lasting glow. Enjoy a swim in the pool, overlooking the mountains and the lush green grounds of the estate.

Activities at Belmond Castello di Casole

Most visitors head to Tuscany to sample the local cuisine, and at Belmond Castello di Casole you can enjoy a Tuscan cooking class, giving you the opportunity to learn how to make your own authentic Italian pizzas and pastas, as well as classic desserts such as tiramisu. You can also go truffle hunting and brush up on your wine knowledge with the hotel's experts.

Hop on a bike or Vespa to explore the hilltop towns, or go horse riding through the countryside. We recommend a visit to the Collegiate Church of San Gimignano, which houses paintings and frescoes by Italian artists described by UNESCO as ‘works of outstanding beauty.’
