Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Sal Salis is in the heart of Australia's newest World Heritage Area, just 50 metres from the glistening Indian Ocean and nestled between low-lying coastal dunes.

Rooms at Sal Salis

Each of the 16 spacious Wilderness Tents, with views over the Ningaloo Reef, are raised on a timber platform allowing the coastal breezes to naturally cool the rooms. The ensuite bathrooms at the rear of the tents have a rustic and ecological simplicity to fit the surrounding environment - a nature loo, a solar heated hand-pumped shower, native herb soaps and ecologically sound shampoos.

Food & Drink

Dinner is hosted against a backdrop of sunsets over the Indian Ocean where a chef provides contemporary Australian cuisine with hints of bush food and native produce. In the cool of the evening, kangaroos and wallaroos appear from the bush for their evening graze. A bar and open lounge area with a small reference library provides a great spot to relax. Guests may help themselves to the self-service bar at any time.

Facilities

The coral reef of the Ningaloo Coast is literally on your doorstep, providing you with one of the world’s greatest marine experiences. Home to over 500 species of fish, 250 coral species and 600 species of mollusc, the Ningaloo reef is waiting to be explored. Make use of the sea kayaks and head out to some of the secret spots on the reef or take the snorkelling gear and go on an underwater adventure.

Guides are also on hand to take you bird spotting and walking along the Mandu Mandu Gorge. Or, if you are wanting a day to relax, there are miles of picture-perfect pristine white sandy beaches to stroll along.

Activities at Sal Salis

If you are visiting during the months of April and July, head out into the water and swim with the ocean's gentle giants, whale sharks, or for those travelling in August to October, have an exhilarating dip with humpbacks.

Private boat charters are available for those looking to do some sea fishing.
