Hotel Overview

Sense of place

QT is housed in a historic setting, in the same two listed buildings as the Gowings Department Store and State Theatre.

Rooms at QT Sydney

Rooms and suites are atmospheric and luxurious, with ambient lighting and rich, dark colour palettes. Fur throws and rugs adorn the beds and floors, and original features of the historic buildings are offset with quirky design features like bowler hat lamps and glass cabinets. Some suites feature original wood-panelled walls, and the bathrooms of some have Japanese-style baths.

Food & drink

At Gowings Bar & Grill, produce from Australia’s finest artisan providers is expertly whipped up into delicious, hearty European fare which is served up in a friendly, informal atmosphere. At the fashionable Gilt Lounge, a wide range of vintage and modern cocktails are served into the small hours, accompanied by a DJ, and Parlour Lane Roasters is the place to go the morning after for a freshly brewed coffee in a buzzing streetside setting.

Facilities

As befits such a style-conscious hotel, the in-house boutique, Qtique, sells a range of funky items, from retro-styled iPhone speakers to colourful tweed flat caps. The hotel also houses a luxurious spa where a range of massage and wellness treatments are on offer based on the use of organic ingredients, many of which are on sale in the spa’s shop. There’s even an old-school barber shop within the hotel, so men can get a haircut fit for the Roaring Twenties.

Activities at QT Sydney

Iconic sights nearby include the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge, while Sydney Harbour National Park is a vast oasis of greenery, cliffs and islands where the city meets the ocean. There are numerous walking trails through the park, stunning lookout points, and cultural points of interest like Aboriginal rock carvings. To experience a quintessential Australian scene and one of the world’s greatest beaches, head to Bondi, where the bronzed and the beautiful swim, surf, skate and work out. For a cultural fix, head to the Art Gallery of NSW, where a permanent collection of Australian art sits alongside touring blockbuster exhibitions.
